Russell Sumner

Experience

Russell Sumner serves our membership as Vice President of Information Systems. Russell holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Majors in Marketing and Information Systems from Appalachian State University. He has 14+ years of experience in the financial services industry serving a number of credit unions in Central Virginia. Russell believes in the uniqueness of the credit union structure and its dedication to serving its member as a financial cooperative.

Russell has been active in both the credit union movement and with industry partners over the years. His support for Virginia-based credit unions has included previous leadership in a League Committee and coordination of networking events for industry professionals in information systems. 

He is active in the community through leadership in his church with committee membership, supporting the children's programming and volunteering to support many local organizations. He has also served as a youth sports coach for his son's recreational teams.
